February is our swimming month. The weather is warmer and Residents take to water at any given chance. We have a number of Residents who take the challenge and swim against Underberberg School’s Grade Sixes. Each year the grade six class has swimming against Pevensey as one of their challenges. This is a very special event which this year was held at Pevensey Place on Tuesday 13 February.

Thankfully, the weather was permitting and at 10:00 it was water splashing time. Particularly pleasing was the manner in which the Residents and school pupils mingled and joked. It truly was a relaxed and enjoyable day which culminated in the school narrowly beating Pevensey Place to the Prize.

Final score was : Underberg School – 210 points

                               Pevensey Place  –    206 points.

For their efforts, the school went away with a Floating Trophy, and we congratulate them for the win!

The major take away from this friendship is the opportunity to connect and work as a team, accepting that in life, we sometimes win and we sometimes lose. After a win, it is important to walk in humility and not with pride.

Don’t they always say “Pride comes before a fall”? It also follows that after a stumble, one must not just pick one’s self up, but also a lesson, and march on with a firm determination to apply one’s self better in future.20180213_100932
