On Sunday 19 March 2017, Pevensey hearts beat around the Pevensey Swimming pool, to witness a very special swimming gala event, which is a part of our sporting events on our calendar.

Sports play a very important part in society. apart from bringing fun and entertainment, it is being used more and more, to encourage teamwork and cooperation, help to build self-esteem, as well as a host of other healthy benefits of exercise and sport activity. So as we say goodbye to warm weather by Underberg standards, we will have our swimming gala on Sunday 19 March.

Swimming is a great all-round activity because it:

  • keeps the heart rate up but takes some of the impact stress off your body.
  • builds endurance, muscle strength and cardiovascular fitness.
  • helps maintain a healthy weight, healthy heart and lungs.
  • tones muscles and builds strength.

It is with this in mind that we encourage our Residents to swim on a regular basis, and organising an annual Inter house swimming gala event helps boost interest and engagement.

Three houses will have a go at each other and excitement is high. Our best wishes extend to the three competing houses, namely the Sharks, the Tadpoles and the Dolphins. May the best team win.

We will receive Kath Boast, who will be our guest of honour, from the Midmar Seals Club, and she will be in the company of fellow club members in Julie Hay, Ashleigh Robertson and Alex Robertson. They will spice up the event by also swimming with the Pevensey Residents. New faces are always a welcome feature at Pevensey, and we have all the time in the world to play and have fun.

As preparations intensify, we do look forward to receiving parents, friends and guests to one of our flagship events of the year. Swimming is a fun event. At Pevensey, it is a special event.
